Battle of Cedar Creek Driving Tour Introduction

Welcome to Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park. I am Park Ranger Eric Campbell and I will be your guide on this self-guided auto tour of the Cedar Creek Battlefield. The app accompanies the brochure which will guide you around with the map inside of the 9 stop, 17 mile long tour, which will follow the Battle of Cedar Creek chronologically. The app also contains video and audio clips for each of the 9 stops. And out on the tour route itself, are accompanying signage for each of the 9 stops. There is also directional signage you will find, which will lead you around the battlefield to the various stops. The tour starts and you can pick up the brochure at the National Park Service Visitor Contact Station which is located at 7712 Main Street in Middletown, Virginia. To start the tour once you have downloaded the free app from the Park website and gotten your self-guided tour brochure. You just exit the Park Service parking lot, turn left on US Route 11, Main Street, and go through the town, south on Main Street, south of Middletown you will see you first auto tour sign at Stop #1, located south of town. The Battle of Cedar Creek was the climactic battle fought here in the Shenandoah Valley on October 19, 1864. Enjoy your tour!
