Exploring Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park:
There are many ways to explore the Park, each with its own highlights.
- Visit: Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park Interim Visitor Contact Station for information and brochures. View interpretive exhibits and watch the fiber optic Battle of Cedar Creek map.
- Driving Tour: Follow the battle from where the Confederate soldiers surprised the sleeping Union camps in the foggy dawn of October 19, 1864 to the final counterattack late that afternoon. This 17.5-mile tour consists of 9 stops covering 17.5 miles. Allow 2 hours.
- Hiking Trail: The "Morning Attack Trails" consist of three individual trails, when combined total 1.7 miles in length.The trails cover an area where part of a surprise Confederate attack during the Battle of Cedar Creek occurred on the morning of October 19, 1864.
